It Might be Snowing in Texas....

SO GO BUY SOME BREAD RIGHT NOW.

Isn't it funny how you can tell the weather by the bread and bottled water shelves at the grocery store? Fortunately I made it to the Kroger pretty early today, so there was still a good selection. And don't you know I didn't even buy bread? Here we might all be snowbound for weeks on end, and the Peacocks will be completely bread-less. I figure we'll find carbs other ways. If worse comes to worse, I guess I could figure out how to make some on my own.

It has been a cold, wet, English day here in sunny downtown Mississippi, and I've been tackling the conundrum of keeping warm. I'm too cheap to have the heat on higher than 60 while Mike is at work, so it's sort of a creative challenge to keep off the chill. Hot coffee or herbal tea is always nice, especially when paired up with a comfortable green couch, a lamp, and a good book.

But I haven't had that kind of luxury today.

When you're up scrubbing down the house, it's hard to be chilly. I started my morning with wool socks, thermal silk underwear, sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and a polar fleece. Once I started washing laundry, unloading the dishwasher, scrubbing porcelain, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wiping down countertops, ironing said laundry, dusting, wrapping final gifts, hanging the last of the ornaments, and making Mike's lunch for tomorrow, I had worked up a real sweat. By the time I was done, I was in a 3/4 sleeve shirt and Capri pants!

How do you keep warm on wet-cold days like these, when the chill bites into your bones?

I'm with you. Thermostat on 60. Esmarelda has a heating pad to help her through the cold snaps. And I have a couple of good bread recipes should you get snowed in for weeks on end.
